Qualification:1 NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing

Content: E2e aims to help you if you are not ready to directly enter a job, training or college to develop self confidence, motivation and practical skills in a work based environment. E2e can also help to develop a range of other skills, eg how to use a computer, how to manage money better, how to prepare and cook meals or how to improve maths or writing skills. If you want to try a placement or to build confidence, then you may want to cover skills such as preparing a CV and preparing for an interview. There is often the opportunity to complete qualifications of your choice, for example: First Aid, Food Hygiene, CLAIT and other short courses. Whilst on e2e you will have the opportunity to talk about common issues that many young people face today, such as pregnancy, being a parent, substance misuse and homelessness. You will also get a chance to meet and make friends with new people who have similar experiences to you.

Entry: If you are aged 16-18, not at school, college, in training or a job, then Entry to Employment (e2e) could be the programme for you. If you are 19-24 you may still be able to do e2e. Your local Connexions Service will tell you about e2e and how it can help and support you.
Cost: You will receive a minimum weekly allowance of £40.00 for attendance of 16 hours or more. You will also be reimbursed full travel expenses and financial support is also available for childcare if you have this specific need. Special incentive bonuses are available throughout your programme for your commitment to and achievements whilst on e2e.

Qualification: 1 NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing
Qualification: 2 NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing
Qualification: 3 NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing

Content: The level 1 qualification includes:- Assisting with reception duties; Assisting with handling stock; Health and safety; Maintaining standards of personal health, hygiene and appearance; Liasing with clients and colleagues; and Contributing to the performance of technical services. The Level 2 qualification includes:- Receiving, directing and checking out clients; Diagnosing hair and scalp conditions; Shampooing; Cutting; Blow drying; and Permanent waving, setting, colouring and bleaching hair into style to include the eleven mandatory units specified by the HTB. The Level 3 qualification includes: Change the degree of movement and direction of hair by permanent; Contribute to the development of teams, individuals and self; Contribute to the improvement of services and systems; Contribute to planning, allocation and supervision of work; Contribute to the promotion of hairdressing services and systems; Create a range of effects using specialist colouring techniques; Create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships to include the sixteen units of competence.

Cost: The usual training allowances are payable: £10.00 plus benefit. Travelling expenses over £3.00 will be paid; other allowances may also be available, eg childcare allowance for lone parents.

Content: Apprenticeships are designed to provide young people with the skills and expertise that are needed by business and industry. The content will be tailored to the particular requirements of the company. All Apprenticeships will provide the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for the job in which the young person is employed, as well as those which are important for all jobs (eg communication and IT skills). Full details of this particular Apprenticeship is available from the Training Provider.

Entry: Candidates must have the ability to achieve an NVQ Level 2 and the associated Key Skills for their employment sector. The employer will set the entry requirements for the employment opportunity depending on the skills and qualifications required by the company. Some Apprenticeship Frameworks also require completion of a Technical Certificate.

Cost: Apprentices may be employed by the company and receive a wage for the job. Rates will vary but should reflect the standards within the chosen industry. Rates paid will not be less than the Training Allowance and other support costs to which the non-employed learner would be entitled, ie, £40.00 regardless of age plus travelling expenses in excess of £3.00 per week. For those Apprentices not in employment a Training Allowance will be paid in line with the rates given above, and additional help may be available to cover childcare costs for lone parents.
