Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy provide employment whilst you gain occupational skills.

You will be paid a wage by your employer and the training and certification is fully funded by the Learning and Skills Council.

Learning usually takes place in one of our realistic working environment training centres through day release but we also have flexible arrangements for those employers who wish more training to take place at their premises. In these instances our assessor will visit the Apprentice at the workplace and provide teaching and learning support on an individual basis.

Starts are available throughout the year for 16-18 year olds, 19 plus and adults over 25 years old.

About Our Quality

Employing around 30 skilled and experienced staff, we were recognised as an "Investor in People" in 1992 and we have maintained the standard to date. This quality mark recognises the investment made by the company in the development and support of its staff.

All education and training provision is quality assured through an inspection process by OFSTED.

Our last inspection by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI, now OFSTED) was in 2006. We were delighted to maintain Grade 2 (Good Provision) in all areas of inspection for the second time in a row.

This was celebrated further when we were named in the Lead Inspectors report for 2006 as one of the top 150 training providers nationally and were the only Hair and Beauty provider in Tyne and Wear to be recognised.

Nicola's story

I did not really enjoy school but was pleased enough to get 8 respectable GCSEs. My maths teacher said I would be stupid to go into hairdressing and he even stopped speaking to me during my last term at school, but having had a Saturday job in a salon,
I knew this was the career for me.

I was offered an apprenticeship by the salon and they sent me to Neeta Ltd to gain my NVQ in hairdressing. After acheiving my advanced apprenticeship and gaining further
experience in the sector I began to support other apprentices as a trainer/assessor and enjoyed being able to pass on my skills and help others gain qualifications.

In 2006 I was recognised as Licentiate member of City and Guilds at a cap and gown ceremony held in London in front of hundreds of people.

Whilst I found teaching and assessing very rewarding, I felt that I was losing touch with the commercial side of the industry and decided to open my own business and I am
now the proud owner of a fabulous business in Newcastle and employer of six staff of whom two are apprentices in hairdressing and one is an apprentice in beauty and they are being trained by 1st Degree Training, the apprenticeship arm of Neeta Ltd.

I wish my maths teacher could see me now!
